The Science Behind this Panel

A strong foundation starts with knowing your numbers. This panel covers the nine markers every man should track annually — from heart health and blood sugar to thyroid, kidney function, and testosterone. It's the baseline that makes everything else make sense.

Total cholesterol is the combined measure of all cholesterol in your blood and the starting point for any cardiovascular risk assessment.

Why we included it: Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in men. Total cholesterol sets the foundation for understanding your full lipid profile and long-term cardiovascular risk.

HDL is your protective cholesterol — it removes harmful particles from your arteries and transports them to the liver for disposal. Men naturally have lower HDL than women, making it especially important to track.

Why we included it: Low HDL is one of the strongest predictors of heart disease in men and responds directly to exercise, diet, and lifestyle — giving you a real measure of whether your habits are working.

LDL is the primary driver of arterial plaque — the underlying cause of most heart attacks. It's the most widely used and clinically actionable marker for cardiovascular prevention.

Why we included it: Men develop cardiovascular disease earlier than women on average. Knowing your LDL in your 30s and 40s gives you decades of runway to intervene before damage accumulates.

Triglycerides are blood fats that spike after eating excess sugar and refined carbohydrates. Elevated levels drive the formation of the most dangerous, artery-clogging form of LDL.

Why we included it: High triglycerides are one of the earliest signs of metabolic dysfunction in men — often appearing years before blood sugar or blood pressure become a problem.

HbA1c measures your average blood sugar over the past 2–3 months — the most reliable marker for detecting prediabetes and diabetes well before symptoms appear.

Why we included it: Type 2 diabetes develops silently over years. Catching elevated HbA1c early — even in the prediabetic range — gives you the best possible window to reverse course through diet and lifestyle changes.

Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH) controls your thyroid's output and regulates your metabolism, energy levels, weight, and mood. It's the primary screening marker for thyroid dysfunction.

Why we included it: Thyroid dysfunction in men is underdiagnosed because its symptoms — fatigue, weight gain, low libido — are often attributed to stress or aging rather than recognized as a treatable condition.

Vitamin D functions more like a hormone than a vitamin — regulating testosterone production, immune function, bone density, and mood. Most men don't get nearly enough from sunlight alone.

Why we included it: Low vitamin D is directly linked to reduced testosterone levels, poor immune function, and increased risk of depression in men — all highly fixable once identified.

Creatinine is a waste product produced by muscle metabolism that your kidneys filter out of your blood. Elevated levels indicate that your kidneys aren't clearing waste efficiently.

Why we included it: Men have higher creatinine baselines due to greater muscle mass, making kidney disease easier to miss. Tracking creatinine annually catches declining kidney function before it becomes serious.

Total testosterone measures the overall amount of testosterone in your blood. It's the foundational marker of male hormonal health — influencing muscle mass, energy, libido, mood, and cognitive function.

Why we included it: Testosterone declines naturally with age, but the drop is often faster than expected — and the symptoms are easy to dismiss. Knowing your baseline early makes it far easier to track changes and take action.
